CHAPTER 03 OF 04 — Retail & Customer Experience
Improve the experience. This chapter is one part of the independent project The Fashion Perspective: ZARA.

THE FASHION PERSPECTIVE / 03 — RETAIL & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

Find
Your Flow.

An independent retail experience concept exploring the space between an easy-to-navigate store and an easy-to-shop store.

ZARA-INSPIRED CASE STUDY / KARLSRUHE STORE OBSERVATION / OCTOBER 2026

01 / THE QUESTION

Easy to navigate.
Easy to shop?

A clear circulation route does not automatically make individual products easy to find. During a qualitative store visit, I experienced intuitive orientation but more friction in locating specific items. This became the starting point for a speculative retail concept focused on discovery.

5/5STORE ORIENTATION
3/5PRODUCT DISCOVERY
5/5BROWSING CONTINUITY

Personal observational ratings from one visit on 6 October 2026, not representative customer research.

02 / THE EXPERIENCE

Where friction appears.

Conceptual journey from entering through finding, comparing, trying and returning, with product discovery flagged as friction

The checkout and fitting-room areas were easy to locate, with short waits during the visit. Some racks felt crowded or disorganized. Previous uncertainties about returns were not verified as operational failures and remain outside the confirmed findings.

03 / THE PROPOSAL

Find Your Flow.

Orient.

Simple category overview and a recognizable entrance cue.

Discover.

Clear rack-level organization, consistent grouping and legible product cues.

Continue.

Uninterrupted movement toward comparison, fitting rooms and checkout.

Illustrative schematic retail layout concept board with zoning, circulation and display principles
Illustrative AI-assisted concept board. Not an architectural plan or a reconstruction of the Karlsruhe store; dimensions, room placement and circulation are speculative.
Proposed modular zoning diagram showing product looks, essentials, comparison, service and an entry point

Original conceptual zoning diagram. It is not a floor plan, measured reconstruction or proposed renovation of the actual ZARA store.

04 / TEST THE IDEA

From hypothesis
to validation.

Prototype.

Mock up minimal rack labels and category markers.

Observe.

Ask 5–8 participants to locate three predetermined items.

Measure.

Track find time, completion, wrong turns and perceived clarity.

Proposed pilot only. No user testing, commercial effect or improvement is claimed.

05 / PORTFOLIO TAKEAWAY

Design for discovery.

The project translates first-hand retail observation into a focused service-design opportunity: keep visual simplicity while making products easier to discover. It complements Project 01's brand analysis and Project 02's campaign strategy with a customer-experience perspective.
